Overview

The VW2190 and VW2191 Corrosion Proof Vibrating Wire Piezometers were developed for use in extreme corrosive environments, including highly acidic geotechnical conditions such as heap leach mineral processing facilities. The manufacturer emphasizes their excellent long-term accuracy and reliability in severe monitoring applications.

These models are based on the VW2100-series principle and use vibrating wire technology, which provides immunity to electrical noise, tolerance to wet wiring commonly found in geotechnical applications, and a robust design for long-term monitoring in harsh conditions.

Available versions

VW2190 Series: corrosion-proof piezometer with a heavy-duty transducer mounted in a 316 stainless steel body. It includes a glycol-filled bladder with PVC housing to protect the diaphragm, an external anti-corrosive layer using UV-resistant solvent-free tape, and adhesive heat-shrink for added durability. This configuration helps prevent diaphragm corrosion in saline groundwater.

VW2191 Series: includes all VW2190 features and adds enhanced cable and piezometer body protection for highly acidic monitoring environments. It uses EL342202 signal cable: 2-pair, 22 AWG, with an orange HDPE jacket of 0.25-inch diameter, selected for acid resistance and long-term durability.

Operational advantages

  • Robust construction for demanding geotechnical work.
  • Field-proven reliability and accuracy.
  • Enhanced anti-corrosion protection.
  • Electrical noise immunity through vibrating wire technology.
  • Tolerance to wet wiring in geotechnical installations.

Applications

It is suitable for civil infrastructure, energy, surface mining, and underground mining, especially where highly corrosive or acidic media would shorten the life of conventional instrumentation.
