EMS62 Sap flow system
Multi-point sap flow system based on the tissue heat balance method for accurate field assessment of tree water regime.
The EMS62 from EMS is a multi-point sap flow measuring system designed for precise assessment of tree and plant water regime under real field conditions.
The system is based on the tissue heat balance (THB) method with variable power and constant temperature difference. It uses external heating and internal stem tissue temperature measurement to provide sap flow output values in kg/h per plant when paired with an EMS datalogger.
The solution supports SF64 sensors for two stem diameter ranges, 6 to 12 mm and 10 to 20 mm. The constant temperature difference can be adjusted to 2, 4 or 8 K to match the plant material and study conditions.
Its architecture connects a sensor network to one datalogger, making it an efficient tool for field studies and long-term monitoring. The system avoids overheating stem tissues, gives a realistic picture of tree water status, and enables net sap flow calculation through built-in commands in the Mini32 software.
The main package includes the SF62B sap flow module, control unit, SF64 sensor, weather shields and connection cables, datalogger, and Mini32 software.
Mini32 is a graphically oriented software package for long time series work. It supports fast automatic baseline subtraction, quick statistics, and built-in commands for baseline calculation and net sap flow processing.
